1973 Topps Baseball Cards

The 1973 Topps Baseball Card Set consists of 660 cards. This would be the final year Topps would issue their annual card set in multiple series, and as is custom, cards from the final series (#529-#660) are in smaller supply. As a test, and perhaps a preview of the following year's product, in limited areas of the country all five series were released simultaneously.

Compared to the previous year's set, the design was toned-down, with a white border and a position "icon" in the lower corner. Although most photos were posed, many of the action shots are out of focus and poorly cropped.

The only prominent rookie card is of Mike Schmidt, who shares a multi-player RC with Ron Cey. Fellow Hall of Famer Goose Gossage also has his RC in '73 Topps, as do Bob Boone, Dwight Evans, and Garry Maddox. Final cards include Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays.
